Bert en Ernie

Long before we planned to have a baby, Louis and I agreed that we wanted our future child to learn Dutch. On our honeymoon, we bought lots of children's books from Holland. His uncle recorded CDs of Dutch children's songs for us, and Louis' dad is planning to teach a bunch of Dutch nursery rhymes to his grandchild. Around us, we have some pretty good resources, including of course, the internet.

Every night, Louis reads a bedtime story in Dutch to my belly and I laugh every time he asks the baby if she can see the pictures in the book he's holding up. Recently, he discovered a bunch of Dutch children's videos on YouTube, so we've been playing those as well. Here's one of my favorites, called "Dans mezelf in slaap" (I dance myself to sleep), from Sesame Street:
