Baby Heystek mailed a Veteran's Day card to Auntie Loretta today, thanking her for being a brave soldier. My version of an olive branch, I suppose.
When I visited the MIL this afternoon, she mentioned that she doesn't want to join us for Thanksgiving, but she asked that Louis and I join her for the retirement home's pre-Thanksgiving dinner a couple days before. Fine by me. Nobody is forcing anyone to do anything.
Quite honestly, I don't have the time, energy, or patience to deal with family drama anymore. With my new shift in priorities, a peaceful existence has become most important.
I wish for there to be peace all around this holiday season, for babies and grown-ups alike.
